As I sit down to write this newsletter introduction, it is 9/11. A day that forever changed our outlook on the future. A day, I am sure we can all agree on, that made one thing very clear: appreciate the people in your corner. September is Big Brothers Big Sisters Month and as it unfolds, I just wanted to say: Thanks for being in our corner.
Our volunteer mentors/Bigs are in our corner by providing over 24,000 hours a year shaping the lives of children for the better. Our donors (and often many of them Bigs as well) give over half a million dollars each year to keep our programs thriving and free to youth/families served. We are planning our budget for next year and working strategically to serve more youth in to mentoring relationships. Our full budget is built on local sources like small businesses, grants and individuals like yourself!
We are in the thick of our Recruitment Campaign and need your help! We are only 100 inquiries away from meeting our goal of 250 Big inquiries in 50 days. Help us spread the word about the need for volunteer mentors just like Grappone Toyota did – here is what they did!
Be on the lookout – next month we are opening up nominations for Bigs of the Year! Each year we collect nominations of a Big Sister of the Year and a Big Brother of the Year. Final nominations are then sent in to our national organization as every BBBS affiliate honors Bigs of the Year! There are over 400 nominations each year from our BBBS affiliates, nationwide. 💚
Thank you for being in our corner. Have a great story to share? Please reply and let me know!
Happy fall and happy pumpkin spice season ☕ (lol),
Stacy W. Kramer, CEO
