SCHOOL/SITE BASED MENTORING

The community-based program is our “traditional” mentoring program, where Bigs and Littles (or mentors and mentees) are matched in a one-to-one friendship based on interests, personalities, and geographic locations.

Forever Friendships

Proven Results

School/Site-based mentoring brings Bigs to schools and after-school sites to provide support and encouragement to Littles who have been identified by teachers, counselors or after-school staff as children who can benefit from a caring mentor. The meeting days and times vary based on the school/site.  Littles may meet their Bigs once a week over a lunch period or after school, and engage in activities that encourage the child’s academic and personal development. Bigs and Littles spend quality time, talking, reading, shooting hoops, playing on the playground. Benefits of mentorship are extensive and create a greater sense of confidence and understanding of risk factors and better decision making. Mentors for this program include adults as well as screened and trained high school and college students.

Beyond School Walls

This site-based initiative matches a local corporation with schools in our community. Employee Bigs are matched, one-to-one with a child from the partner school and the matches meet in a group setting a couple times a month at the partner corporation. This program provides the opportunity for youth to experience careers and professions they may not have even known were possibilities. Watch the video below to learn more about our Beyond School Walls program at one of our corporate partners,
Manchester-based CCA Global Partners.
