We feel everyone deserves someone in their corner. You can be that person in their corner – you don’t have to be perfect; you need to show up and we help with the rest!  

We’re always looking for people eager to positively impact a child and improve their community at the same time. Last year volunteers gave 30,000 of their time to enriching NH youth lives! 

For a few hours, a couple times a month, you can give a Little the invaluable gift of your friendship. Show up and we will help with the rest.  We provide ongoing training, coaching and activities for you to participate in so you will never be alone in this new adventure!

A majority of our mentors go on to have long-lasting relationships with their mentee.  Overall, our matches last almost 3 years!

MENTORING PRACTICES

Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, careers, education levels, cultures, marital statuses, ages, ethnicities, and households. Mentoring is about starting a consistent friendship and inspiring positive change to empower children to believe they can achieve what they never dreamed possible. You can simply incorporate your Little into your everyday life: play sports together, picnic in the park, take your dog for a hike or go to the beach. Being a Big will be one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling things you do, while also being a force of change in our community. And the best part is, it’s a lot of fun!. 

HOW IT WORKS

Step 1

Inquire

Complete the online form below or contact BBBSNH to inquire about becoming a Big. You will be contacted by staff to discuss the program and schedule orientation and an enrollment interview.

Step 2

Interview and screen

Professional staff interview all prospective Bigs and Littles to get to know their interests and personalities. Personal references and background checks including state and national criminal record and driving record check are conducted.

Step 3

Monitor and support

We support Bigs and Littles as they face the multitudes of challenges life creates and monitor the matches for safety and longevity.

Step 4

Match

Professional staff select a Big and Little match based upon multiple variables with a goal of creating a long-term friendship.

Step 5

Train

All volunteers complete an in-person or online pre-match training session.
