CEO Corner February 2021

As the passionate leader of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NH, Stacy shares updates, insights, and inspiration as we work together to empower New Hampshire’s youth through mentoring.

If there’s one thing we New Englanders know, it is how the dreary days and icy blasts of February can begin to weigh on us. By the time you finish this month’s newsletter, however, I guarantee you’ll leave with at least a spark of hope and joy. After all, spring will be here before we know it, and today I’m sharing stories of kindness and appreciation from our program. How can that not put a smile on your face?

I’d like to think I’m not the only one longing for warmer days filled with light, and day dreaming about being outside surrounded by singing birds. While I’ve never much gone in for the trappings of Valentine’s Day, this year I count myself among those wishing for the opportunity to go out – even to an overcrowded restaurant! – and longing to feel appreciated and cared for. It was with this in mind that I recently brainstormed some ways to lift up my team, our Bigs and supporters during New England’s long winter.

Last month, we launched a “Share the Kindness” campaign within our organization. We asked our Bigs, Littles, parents and staff to share with us what they love about BBBSNH, a colleague, or the person we put in their corner. It was remarkable to sift through the entries and see just how much our team, Littles, Bigs and parents are inspired by one another each and every day!

Here are just some examples of the entries we received. We’ve also put together a short video with more of the entries that you can see under the Mentoring Mindset section below.
I love my Little Sister’s sense of curiosity. She asks really good questions and she thinks things through. – A Big Sister

My Big Sister is so funny and makes me laugh. She is like a big kid, too! – Little Sister Brooklynn

Everything about my daughter’s Big is amazing. She is a beam of light in my daughter’s life. – Stacy, parent of a Little

One thing is for certain, we at BBBSNH are grateful beyond words to you and all the dedicated individuals who make this organization amazing. We hope you feel the love all year long!

I also wanted to take a moment to share a new opportunity for our supporters to show their appreciation for our mentors. This month, we are launching the Impact Circle. With a monthly donation of your choosing, your membership in the Impact Circle creates sustainable funding that helps us continue the important work of serving more Granite State youth with mentors.

Please consider joining the Impact Circle this Valentine’s Day. Imagine if that person or people in your life that you count on to lift you up and stand in your corner weren’t there. I know for me, it would be devastating. During this time of isolation, it is more critical than ever for the youth waiting for a mentor to get someone who can be their beam of light.

You are appreciated. Thank you for sharing in our mission,

Stay well friends,

Stacy W. Kramer, CEO
