CEO Corner Aug 2021

As the passionate leader of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NH, Stacy shares updates, insights, and inspiration as we work together to empower New Hampshire’s youth through mentoring.

I can’t believe it is August already! We have been fortunate to have a great summer program with matches meeting outside and doing lots of fun activities. It’s great to see youth in our program have opportunities to flourish through new experiences like surfingpaddle boarding, seeing the “Jet Cars Under the Stars” at the New England Dragway, or visiting artists’ in residence at Canterbury Shaker Village. And, the list doesn’t end there! Bigs are great at encouraging their Littles to try new things. One Big Sister took her Little to get a pedicure. It was the first time the Little had experienced the pampering of a pedicure. She said it was the “best thing ever.”

We also wrapped up on several summer fundraising events, including our July pickleball and cornhole tournaments. I am not sure about you, but we were glad to get together with our supporters again and see everyone outside! Did you catch the segments on WMUR? We are so grateful that they were able to feature these events and the BBBSNH mission. It comes at a fitting time as boys make up 75% of our waitlist, so if you know someone who would be a great mentor, please reach out!

Our cornhole tournament gave us the chance to partner with Special Olympics of New Hampshire, and our first ever pickleball tournament sold out! Be sure to stay tune for details about next year’s event – it’s going to be epic! But, the year isn’t over and we have more activities planned. We hope to see you at our Stiletto Sprint coming up on September 25 and Crazy for the 80’s concert at the Music Hall this fall.

Last Monday, I got to sit out on the Wentworth Country Club’s second hole to spread awareness about mentoring at the annual Sprague Gold Tournament. We are thankful for companies like Sprague that make a pledge to support BBBSNH year over year. It makes the money we need to raise each year to keep our programs free to all within reach.

Lastly, in case you missed it last month – we have new merch you can purchase to spread the word about the mission of BBBSNH. Get your BBBSNH gear by clicking on our on-line store.

With gratitude,
Stacy W. Kramer, CEO
